Purpose-driven photographer living + working in lutruwita / Tasmania.

Based in nipaluna/Hobart, Nina (she/her) specialises in lifestyle, arts + culture, event and documentary photography. She is particularly interested in working with environmentally responsible and socially conscious brands, organisations and people who are doing good things in the world.

Having worked in architectural practice and education in Brisbane and Uganda, Nina returned to Tasmania in 2013 and shifted her focus to photography in 2016. Her background in design allows her to bring a confident and creative approach to her work, with a distinct architectural perspective that informs the way she sees and understands details, light, colour and composition.

Nina is currently undertaking a PhD, investigating how architecture is produced, curated, consumed and (re)presented through the feedback loops of visual media.

Her work has been published in Architecture Australia, Australian Design Review, The Local Project, Broadsheet, Sanctuary Magazine, The Times (UK), Demure Mag and Peppermint Magazine.

Celebrating Tasmanian-ness: the place, the people, the culture.

lutruwita / Tasmania has gained global recognition for an exciting arts, design + produce scene. The island’s position at the geographical and cultural edge provides rich stimuli for designers and local brands.

The physical isolation, unique landscapes and that incredible Tasmanian light (yes, it’s actually a thing) all underpin a strong sense of place and identity, which can be reflected in a beautiful set of images.

My commitment to environmental + social responsibility.

Protecting our environment + giving back to create positive social change are core values of Nina Hamilton Photography. This is why I commit to giving 1% of my annual revenue to values-aligned environmental + socially responsible non-profits, with a focus on environmental education + activism, and healthy built environments.

Over the years, I have given financial and/or in-kind support to The Hobart Women’s Shelter, The Bob Brown Foundation, The Tasmanian Land Conservancy, Seed Indigenous Youth Climate Network, One Girl and Thread Together.

This is not philanthropy. This should be a cost of doing business. It’s paying rent for our use of the planet.
